Swedish PM: Don‘t Need Treaty Changes To Solve EU Debt Crisis

Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, exposing a rift in the European Union ahead of a crucial summit of leaders Sunday, rejected calls by Germany for changes to European treaties to strengthen the bloc‘s defense against the financial crisis.

„We don‘t think it‘s necessary to change the treaty. You can do a lot within the existing framework,“ he told reporters on his way into a summit of EU leaders in Brussels.
