Manbij is strategically important because the Mosul-Raqqa-Manbij route connects Iraq to Syria and the Manbij-Aleppo-Shehbaa and Manbij-Jarablus-Azaz routes connect the gangs with the outside world.
The liberation of Manbij will partially remove the threats of IS gangs against Kobanê and turn the area surrounding the Euphrates into a secure region.
The securing of the Euphrates will enable the cultivation of arable land and bring the large wheat fields that cannot be cultivated due to ISIS attacks back to life. This will also end the embargo of the Turkish state, Massoud Barzani, and the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) on Rojava, particularly Kobanê.
