A private jet carrying al-Zawi, who is also an army general in charge of logistics and supplies, landed in Cairo after three planes belonging to Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi took off from a military airstrip near Tripoli on Wednesday morning.

There were reports that al-Zawi was carrying a message from Gaddafi and was to meet with Amr Moussa, head of the Arab league.
