Ford refused to discuss plans for its UK operations, where it employs 11,400 people including sites at Dagenham, Halewood, Bridgend and Southampton. However, it has taken the unusual step of calling dozens of British trade union representatives to a meeting at its Basildon headquarters at 10am on Thursday.
