Speaking shortly before the Tunisian President, Moncef Marzouki, was due to address the European parliament in Strasbourg on 6 February, Chamkhi Fathi, president of RAID-ATTAC Tunisia, an anti-economic liberalisation organisation, said that by allowing the country to build-up its debt, Europe is failing in its partnership obligations. He said that debt is the single-most damaging aspect of life in Tunisia.
