(20. September 2005) Iraqi authorities in the southern oil city of Basra claimed that British armoured vehicles demolished part of its main jail and snatched the two men – thought to be commandos in Arab clothing who allegedly fired on Iraqi police officers yesterday.

However, Britain‘s Defence Ministry said its troops used an armoured vehicle to smash down a prison wall out of fear that the two men had been handed over to Iraqi militia.
