Hundreds of thousands of Israelis protested against the government’s judicial overhaul plan across the country for the 16th consecutive week on Saturday, as Israel gears for an unprecedented Memorial and Independence day observances rife with political and societal division.
Speaking at Saturday‘s protests were bereaved family members, a Holocaust survivor, ex-military officials, and even a prominent U.S. Jewish leader. Ahead of the country‘s Memorial Day for Fallen Soldiers, bereaved families said their loved ones did not die during Israel‘s wars for Israel to cease to be a democracy.
