MEXICO CITY: The US ambassador to Mexico has resigned after the publication of diplomatic cables that criticised that government‘s drug fight, infuriating the Mexican President, Felipe Calderon.

Carlos Pascual, who had been stationed in Mexico for 19 months, appears to be the first senior US diplomat to lose his job because of WikiLeaks revelations.
