While the Tories were pushed into second place, Cameron’s Liberal Democrat partners came fifth, behind the Green Party. It is the eighth by-election in a row in which the Liberal Democrats have lost their deposit. With just 349 votes, it is the lowest vote total ever for the party in a by-election at just 0.87 percent, down by 15.39 percent in 2010.

Labour came third, with its own share of the vote falling from 28.5 percent in 2010 to 16.7 percent.
