The passing of Yury Izrael is a great and irreplaceable loss for Russian science and for all of us. Academician Izrael was an outstanding scientist and public figure who deservedly enjoyed great influence and respect. His undisputed achievements include fundamental works and research, a major school, and a whole group of talented students.
