Security sources in the Bekaa Valley said the group from the northern border village of Arsal, who were transporting the wounded Syrian rebel in a pickup truck, was stopped at a police checkpoint.
As police waited for instructions from their superiors and insisted that the Syrian man be given proper paperwork before entering Lebanon, the rebel bled to death. Angered by the death, the group got into a fistfight with the police, hurling stones at the officers.
