„She wants to see what’s real,“ said the first lady’s spokeswoman Stephanie Grisham told CNN during a 10-minute press briefing en route to Texas. „She wanted to see as close to what she had been seeing on TV. She wants to see a realistic view of what’s happening.“
German Chancellor Angela Merkel is heading to China with a business delegation as both Beijing and the EU are grappling with the US over trade issues and Washington’s rejection of the Iran nuclear deal. Merkel is set to leave Wednesday afternoon.
The two leaders talked from 11:30 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. and agreed to work together closely on the historic meeting, Cheong Wa Dae said. Moon is scheduled to hold talks with the U.S. chief executive on Tuesday in Washington.
He is set to head for Washington late Monday and return home early Thursday.
China’s foreign ministry remained noncommittal.
„There is no information to provide now,“ ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said during a regular press briefing.
„North Korea and China are close neighbors and are maintaining normal communication and exchanges,“ he added.
