Due to militia attacks at the U.S. Embassy compound, all public consular operations are suspended until further notice. All future appointments are cancelled. U.S. citizens are advised to not approach the Embassy. The U.S. Consulate General in Erbil is open for visa and American Citizen Services appointments.
US Congress ratified a bill in 2016 for 38 countries with US visa waivers to limit their travel to the US if they travel to Iran and a number of other countries…. Now that the decision has been implemented by the Iranian government, the citizens of these 38 countries can travel freely to Iran with no more concerns for traveling to the US.
Later the airport confirmed that 86 flights had been cancelled, arrivals as well as departures.
