The French people are Britain’s best ally – they can’t stand Macron either

Boris Johnson should ignore the provocations, recall the gunboats – and gamble on the slow demise of the Macron presidency

Covid-19 vaccine chaos as EU is forced into U-turn after blocking supplies to the North

A government source said the Taoiseach had not been given any advance warning of the EU decision to invoke the article in the protocol.

The source said the article may have been inadvertently triggered by “someone who did not understand the political implications” of the decision.

Some EU officials are understood to be livid about the move, which they see as ruining the work they’ve done since the Brexit vote in 2016.

Today is a historic day. Today the UK breaks the TINA (there is no alternative) spell that has been the main driving force behind the neoliberal anti-democratic monster that is the EU. Today the wheels of history are set in motion again. There is always an alternative. #BrexitDay

Superb interview with @C_Lapavitsas on the nonsensical remain and reform argument, shows left remainism is capitulation to capitalism and spells out the false capitalist ‚internationalism‘ peddled by left remain is the opposite of workers internationalism.

Tony Benn said what they’re doing with the EU is creating an Empire. We should have no part of it. He was correct. Internationalism is the free association of free sovereign nations. The EU is everything we should oppose as anti imperialists, democrats, socialists.

Can the US Democratic party revive the left in Europe?

In the 1990s developments within the Democratic party would lead to the ideological decline, and then electoral decline of European social democracy. Now, almost three decades later, could recent developments within that same party be the start of an ideological and electoral rejuvenation of European social democracy?

Vergesst den „Brexit“. Die Vereinigten Staaten von Amerika wollen ihren Klon über den Kontinent Europa.

(22. Juni 2016)

Diese „Union“, dieses „Europa“ ist ein Fluch. Sonst gar nichts.

To defeat the far right, the left must embrace a socialist and internationalist Brexit

Paul Mason has made an important contribution to the debate on the left about Brexit. It is an important contribution because Mason is the left’s most militant supporter of the EU: an anti-democratic, capitalist organisation which has become a pillar of globalisation and a driver of inequality. His piece was full of the usual McCarthyite tactic of guilt by association against those who oppose the EU. Mason’s attack on Eddie Dempsey, an anti-fascist trade unionist, was a classic example of this. It is vital that we move beyond this kind of politics on the left.

Why the Internationalist Left Should Oppose the EU Customs Union

Labour’s position on the customs union is baffling. For the British left, supporting membership in the customs union is historically incongruous, morally aberrant, and logically inconsistent. Anti-racists, internationalists, and leftists should oppose EU customs union membership for Great Britain.

The Folly of “Remain and Reform”: Why the EU is Impervious to Change

Ever since Britain’s EU referendum was called there has been a chorus of voices calling on the country to “remain and reform” (R&R) the EU from within. Prime Minister David Cameron was the first to try this, returning from Brussels with some meagre concessions that played no part in the subsequent referendum campaign. Since the vote to Leave, R&R arguments have come from two main groups. The first comprises those who saw little fault in the EU before 2016, and some who probably still don’t, and propose R&R as a sop to Leave voters as part of a campaign to stop Brexit. In the second camp are self-declared leftists, who urge Britain to stay and fight for a socialist EU. This includes commentators like Paul Mason, various lefty academics, and Yannis Varoufakis and his “DiEM 25” movement, which seeks to mobilise reformists across Europe.

Another Britain Is Possible

The Left must meet this moment in history with a bold plan to remake our economy — or someone else will.

Citizens across Europe are beginning to realise that a better world is possible — but it is not prefigured by the neoliberal, neo-colonial politics of the EU. If the Left fails to show what this new world might look like, the Right will do so instead.

Isn’t it funny how the people who have spent years policing what we say, telling us we are too thick to vote the right way, trying their utmost to subvert the democratic wishes of the electorate, are the same people who tell us to beware of fascists lurking around every corner?

We don’t ‚wonder‘ at all. We know precisely why the liberal establishment is angry. It had become so used to getting its way for so long and is furious that the masses are challenging the status quo.

Macron NEXT? Demands for France to TURN AGAINST EU to force out Europhile President

FRANCE’S far-left leader Jean-Luc Mélenchon has urged French voters to turn next May’s European Parliament election into an anti-government referendum, as he pledged to bring down his arch-nemesis, President Emmanuel Macron.

Argh! why is the Left not saying this!? why does it have to be them!? “We are against the enemies of Europe — Juncker and Moscovici“ […] „The politics of austerity of the last few years have increased Italian debt and impoverished Italy.“
