Rep. Tulsi Gabbard says being confronted with „the high human cost of war“ while serving in Iraq influenced her anti-interventionist stance. „I was struck with the names and the faces of my brothers and sisters who were paying the price for this war“

Bernie Sanders Interview On TYT
Senator Bernie Sanders talks with Cenk and Ana about his 2020 presidential bid, his platform, and who he might pick for a VP. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of The Young Turks, breaks it down.
I’m running for president. I am asking you to join me today as part of an unprecedented and historic grassroots campaign that will begin with at least 1 million people from across the country. Say you’re in:
Bernie Sanders Joins the 2020 Presidential Race
Senator Bernie Sanders, the Vermont independent and 2016 Democratic primary runner-up whose populist policy agenda has helped push the party to the left, announced on Tuesday that he was running for president again, embarking on a bid that would test whether he could retain the anti-establishment appeal he enjoyed with many liberal voters three years ago.
Donald Trump may not like it, but we are not an authoritarian country. We have a constitution and separation of powers. There is no „national emergency,“ and Trump cannot build his wall without congressional approval.
‘You can feel it now’: New Democrats push party, and 2020 candidates, to the left on divisive issues
“You can feel it now. In Congress, it has started to shift. It has started to shift. We’re not there yet. We’re not all the way there, but it has started to shift,” Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) said at a presidential campaign event Sunday night in Davenport, Iowa, when discussing her support for the Green New Deal. “We’ve got new energy in this. We’ve got new blood in this. We’ve got new ideas in this.“
No fear. We will not be intimidated into silence. #TULSI2020
Tulsi Gabbard Smears Debunked
How Tulsi Gabbard Could Win The 2020 Democratic Nomination
(24.1.2019) Most likely, though, none of these factors will be as important as Gabbard’s ability to appeal to the left wing of the party.

Democrats Unveil Changes To House Rules On Debt Ceiling, Ethics
Democrats plan to tweak the rules so that a motion to vacate can only be offered on the House floor if a majority of either the House Republican Conference or the House Democratic Caucus agrees to do so. The change limits the ability of any one member to wreak havoc on the floor and ultimately bolsters incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., against potential agitators in either party.
Looks like Pelosi will be having none of that intra-party rebellion Ryan and Boehner faced repeatedly from the right. This new rule for the House looks to end the ability of a single member to bring a motion to vacate the chair.
Tomorrow I will also vote No on the rules package, which is trying to slip in #PAYGO. PAYGO isn’t only bad economics, as @RoKhanna explains; it’s also a dark political maneuver designed to hamstring progress on healthcare+other leg. We shouldn’t hinder ourselves from the start.
I will be voting NO on the Rules package with #PayGo. It is terrible economics. The austerians were wrong about the Great Recession and Great Depression. At some point, politicians need to learn from mistakes and read economic history. @paulkrugman @StephanieKelton @RBReich
Ocasio-Cortez slams ‘bad economics’ of budget deficit rule pushed by Democratic leaders
Khanna and Ocasio-Cortez say they’ll vote against the rules package containing paygo on Thursday. A total of 18 Democrats would need to vote against the package for it to be defeated. A defeat would be an embarrassment for Rep. Nancy Pelosi, who is expected to be elected House speaker on the same day.
Ocasio-Cortez, Khanna will vote against House Democratic rules over ‚PAYGO‘ spending restraints
Progressives who support programs like „Medicare-for-all“ and other policies likely to increase government expenditures worry that the rule would create a self-imposed obstacle with limited political upside — and come across as a sign that Democrats are committed to the austerity economics championed, at least rhetorically, by conservative groups.

Congressman Mark Pocan (D-Wisc) on whether Nancy Pelosi will be Speaker
Congressman Mark Pocan (D-Wisc) explains to SiriusXM radio’s Dean Obeidallah that despite Democrats winning the House on November 6 it’s still too early to say if Nancy Pelosi will be elected speaker, noting it will be about the final seat count of the Democrats victory. (November 7, 2018 show)
Progressives flex muscles as Dems return to Washington
“We have 20 new people that we endorsed elected to Congress, and there’s still a few more that are coming,” Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.), the co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus (CPC), said Monday at a press conference presenting the group’s new members.
Pocan added that the CPC will have more than 90 members in the next Congress, making it the “largest value-based caucus” on the Hill.
Do the Math. Moderate Democrats Will Not Win in 2020.
Andrew Gillum and Stacey Abrams, progressive African-American Democratic candidates, may not have won their races for governor in Florida and Georgia (both are still too close to call). But the strategy they followed is still the best strategy for Democrats to win: inspiring, mobilizing and turning out voters of color and progressive whites.
I’ve argued for this strategy for years.
For Democrats, Progressive Is The New Moderate
Far more insidious is the corporate Democrat spin machine called Third Way.
To hear this band of Wall Street Democrats tell it, centrist Democrats had a great night, while progressives were losers. This selective use of statistics has all the intellectual honesty of an offering prospectus for subprime derivatives.
The generation coming of age in Obama and Trump’s America is one of the most progressive generations in history. You are going to change America — and for the first time in our history create a nation that finally belongs to all of us.
Future of the international left: A new authoritarian axis demands an international progressive front
There is a global struggle taking place of enormous consequence. Nothing less than the future of the planet – economically, socially and environmentally – is at stake.
At a time of massive wealth and income inequality, when the world’s top 1% now owns more wealth than the bottom 99%, we are seeing the rise of a new authoritarian axis.
While these regimes may differ in some respects, they share key attributes: hostility toward democratic norms, antagonism toward a free press, intolerance toward ethnic and religious minorities, and a belief that government should benefit their own selfish financial interests. These leaders are also deeply connected to a network of multi-billionaire oligarchs who see the world as their economic plaything.

Florida Democrat Andrew Gillum responds to ‚monkey‘ comment
Mayor Andrew Gillum, Florida’s first African American nominee for governor, says that his opponent Ron DeSantis‘ „monkey this up“ comment was used as a way to „incite“ his base.
Ron DeSantis Tells Florida Not To ‚Monkey This Up‘ By Electing Andrew Gillum
“The last thing we need to do is to monkey this up by trying to embrace a socialist agenda with huge tax increases and bankrupting the state,” said DeSantis to Smith.
Gillum, mayor of Tallahassee, is backed by Bernie Sanders and is campaigning on progressive policies. President Donald Trump has expressed his support for DeSantis.
Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum shocks Democratic rivals, wins nomination for governor
Running to the left of his rivals and despite being vastly outspent, the charismatic and proudly liberal Gillum built a devoted statewide following of progressives. He had a well-received message of social justice and lifting up the downtrodden and an appeal to Florida’s growing diversity.
Aloha & Congratulations to #TulsiGabbard for taking care of business & fending off her establishment funded challengers. With 81% of vote it’s time to put the rest the fiction voters have their reservations She’s one of the few brave politicians willing to take on the war machine
Looks like @aidachavez and @SabrinaSiddiqui repackaged the same Democrat oppo research into articles, attacking @TulsiGabbard for violating the bipartisan foreign policy consensus. If Gabbard hadn’t stuck her neck out vs regime change in Syria these wouldn’t have been written.

BREAKING: Democrat Sharice Davids wins election for KS 3rd US House by 2,088 votes, according to KS Secretary of State’s office.
With 59% of precincts now reporting, Sharice Davids is still gaining on Brent Welder; she is only behind by 113 votes!
Similarly, Sharice Davids‘ lead over Brent Welder in Johnson County two updates ago was 2,599. The last update increased her lead to 3,131 over Welder. Davids still trails 113 votes in the overall tally.

Officials cite ’slow reporting‘ for Johnson County vote delay
The county recently spent more than $10 million on 2,100 new voting machines. It’s unclear if Tuesday’s delay is connected to the new machines.
The results were key in determining the outcomes of two high-profile races: the Republican nomination for Kansas governor and the Democratic nomination for the 3rd Congressional District.

Can a liberal agenda that sells in the Bronx win over voters in Kansas?
(10.7.2018) He’d raised tens of thousands of dollars from liberals looking for their next cause, and finding it in the suburbs of Kansas City, with a candidate running proudly on “Medicare for all” and a $15 minimum wage.
“People keep asking, are these the kind of ideas that a candidate can talk about and be successful in Kansas?” said Welder, a 37-year-old labor lawyer. “What I’ve learned on this campaign is that the only way we can be successful is by talking about these ideas.”

Congressional Candidate Matt Morgan going door to door in Escanaba
„If you’re a primary voter and you’re coming out in three weeks to vote in the primary and you vote a democratic ticket, I just need you to find the House of Representatives line and write in Matt Morgan and fill in that bubble. I am the only candidate running for the House of Representatives as a Democrat so you just have to write in Matt Morgan and fill in that bubble.“
Technical issue could keep Democrat off ballot
(30.4.2018) The Michigan Bureau of Elections notified the Morgan campaign last week that it would not recommend the state Board of Canvassers certify the 1,543 petition signatures that he submitted in early March to qualify for the August primary ballot, the campaign said.
At issue was the use of the campaign’s Post Office box in the heading of the nominating petitions, rather than a street address.

Who’s next? Progressive primary insurgents to watch
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s primary defeat of New York Rep. Joe Crowley on Tuesday hit like a shot of pure political adrenaline for progressives hungry to remake the Democratic Party.
The question now, as the last round of nominating contests comes into focus, is simple — and for parts of the party establishment, terrifying: Who’s next?
