Preliminary results were expected to come out by early Monday and final results are expected to be announced on Sept. 30, local media reports said.
Brazil’s top electoral court ruled on Friday that former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, who is serving a 12-year sentence for corruption, cannot run for a third term, eliminating the front-runner in a race many see as a struggle between democracy and due process.
Mr. da Silva, a two-time president who left office in 2011 with a record-high approval rating, has become a polarizing figure. Many supporters remain loyal to the metalworker who rose from the factory floor to the presidency and improved the lives of millions of the country’s poorest, giving him a wide lead in polls ahead of the Oct. 7 vote.
Brazil’s Supreme Court will weigh in September an appeal by jailed former president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva to be set free so he can join the presidential campaign already under way, a court spokesperson said on Monday.
(19.7.2018) The CIA had a top secret informant close to Vladimir Putin who confirmed the Russian president’s personal involvement in hacking the 2016 US election, it has been claimed.
According to the New York Times the source was giving information to the CIA during the Obama administration.
The information, and the source, were reportedly considered so sensitive that John Brennan, the CIA director at the time, gave details to Mr Obama in an envelope, separate from the daily presidential intelligence briefing that is delivered in the Oval Office, the New York Times reported.
Mr. Trump even questioned the determinations by his intelligence officials that Russia had meddled in the election.
“They said they think it’s Russia,” Mr. Trump said. “I have President Putin; he just said it’s not Russia,” the president continued, only moments after Mr. Putin conceded that he had wanted Mr. Trump to win the election because of his promises of warmer relations with Moscow.
(12.12.2016) we draw on decades of senior-level experience – with emphasis on cyber-intelligence and security – to cut through uninformed, largely partisan fog. Far from hiding behind anonymity, we are proud to speak out with the hope of gaining an audience appropriate to what we merit – given our long labors in government and other areas of technology. And corny though it may sound these days, our ethos as intelligence professionals remains, simply, to tell it like it is – without fear or favor.
We have gone through the various claims about hacking. For us, it is child’s play to dismiss them. The email disclosures in question are the result of a leak, not a hack.
Progressives have one last chance to save democracy. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian, hosts of The Young Turks, break it down.
The resisting superdelegates’ odds of success are long. The proposal has the support of DNC Chairman Tom Perez and two former DNC chairs — former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean and Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine, Hillary Clinton’s 2016 running mate. And the DNC’s Rules and Bylaws Committee, following months of discussion, voted without dissent on Wednesday to recommend the plan to full DNC. The proposal was backed by many Clinton supporters, as well.
Axios, which boils down news and analysis into concise takes, explains why this matters: “A meeting with Obama is an easy way for 2020 contenders to gain legitimacy and presidential wisdom — and, most importantly, a foothold with the man still largely considered to be the Democratic Party’s figurehead.”
Much of Romney’s calculus is based on his belief that Democrats will ultimately choose „someone who is really out of the mainstream of American thought.“ And they might! But the 2020 Democratic field is totally in flux at the moment and it’s literally impossible to anticipate who might eventually be the nominee and why.
Washington, D.C. — The DNC Rules and Bylaws Committee met in Providence, R.I. on Friday, June 8 and declared a new rule that allows the party to block presidential candidates from running on the Democratic ballot.
The rule states that in order to be accepted as a candidate by the DNC, the applicants’ “public writings and/or statements” must “affirmatively demonstrate that they are faithful to the interests, welfare and success of the Democratic Party of the United States.”
The new rule means that a committee of corporate lobbyists, consultants, and people who participated in rigging the 2016 primary election will decide if a progressive is eligible to run for president in the Democratic Party in 2020. When Bernie Sanders or another progressive files to run as a Democrat, the DNC can reject them before a single vote is cast.
While Sanders has not said anything concrete about running for president again in two years, his 2016 campaign manager Jeff Weavers hinted at the possibility during an interview with C-SPAN host John McArdle in May.
“He is considering another run for the presidency and when the time comes I think we’ll have an answer for that. But right now he’s still considering it,” Weavers said.
The Israel-lobbyists, Netanyahu cronies, psyops manipulators and well-connected oligarchs — could it all be just one big coincidence?
Psy-Group, the company headed by the Israeli media specialist Joel Zamel, who is reportedly being investigated in connection with the alleged illegal intervention in Donald Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign, has shut down, according to a person familiar with the matter who spoke to Calcalist on condition of anonymity.

„They denounce that there is a dictatorship in Venezuela, but who is denying the right to vote? Only dictatorship countries do not allow citizens to exercise their right to vote, so I ask if Venezuela –according to some world nations – is a dictatorship, how is it that today Canada intends to curtail Venezuelans‘ right to vote?
