The Articles of Impeachment introduced by the House Judiciary Committee are not recognizable under any standard of Constitutional theory, interpretation, or jurisprudence. They include no crimes, no misdemeanors, and no offenses whatsoever. You have cheapened the importance of the very ugly word, impeachment!
By proceeding with your invalid impeachment, you are violating your oaths of office, you are breaking your allegiance to the Constitution, and you are declaring open war on American Democracy.
Pelosi told reporters on Capitol Hill that she had not gotten the opportunity to read the full letter, which accused Democrats of waging an “unconstitutional abuse of power” by moving forward with an impeachment vote over Trump’s dealings with Ukraine.
“I’ve seen the essence of it, though, and it’s really sick,” Pelosi said as she walked through the halls of Congress.
„No Member came to Congress to impeach a President. But every one of us, as our first act as a Member of Congress, stood on the House Floor, raised our hand and took a sacred oath: ‚I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic.‘ That oath makes us Custodians of the Constitution. If we do not act, we will be derelict in our duty,“ she wrote.
In an open letter to the Australian minister for foreign affairs (dated Dec. 16), the doctors urge Marise Payne to negotiate Julian Assange’s safe passage from Belmarsh Prison to an appropriate hospital setting in Australia, “before it is too late.”
„Even more concerning still, we are calling out what can only be described as outdated, colonial undertones to some of these stories,“ the MPs continued, adding that this could not „be allowed to go unchallenged.“
They added that they shared „an understanding of the abuse and intimidation“ used against women in public-facing positions.
US President Donald Trump’s letter to the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan was widely derided for its stream of consciousness and the unusual tone that discards accepted diplomatic etiquette normally accepted from a national leader.
One thing in the letter stood out in particular.
The letter tried to persuade Erdogan to reverse a decision to invade Syria that Erdogan told Trump about in an Oct 6 phone call.
„Let’s work out a good deal!“ Trump said. „You don’t want to be responsible for slaughtering thousands of people, and I don’t want to be responsible for destroying the Turkish economy – and I will.“
As The Post’s Niha Masih reported from Srinagar, streets are no longer crowded with civilians but awash with India’s armed soldiers, and “instead of traffic jams at intersections, there are spools of concertina wire. People remain inside their homes with no telephone, Internet or cable TV service. No one has seen or heard from local political leaders, hundreds of whom are in detention. Of the more than 200 newspapers in the region, only five are publishing physical copies. Their websites are stuck at Aug. 5.”
Members of student, faculty and alumni of the prestigious Harvard University have written a letter to the Government of India, asking it to reconsider the detention of Shah Faesal on Wednesday in Srinagar.
Shah Faesal was sent back from Delhi airport on Tuesday to Srinagar and he was later detained under the Public Safety Act.
The content of the letters between the two leaders is still unknown.
Local experts said both leaders were likely to have offered to seek a middle ground in nuclear negotiations through the letters.
We, Jewish and Israeli scholars, many of whom research Jewish history and anti-Semitism, express concern about the rise in anti-Semitism around the world, including in Germany. We view all forms of racism and bigotry as a threat that must be fought and encourage the German government and parliament to do so.
At the same time, we wish to sound alarm about a parallel trend: the growing tendency of labeling supporters of Palestinian human rights as anti-Semitic.
This trend is now escalating in Germany. Two German parties, the FDP and AfD, have tabled resolutions at the Bundestag that equate the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement with anti- Semitism. Coalition parties CDU /CSU and SPD are preparing a joint resolution that does so, too. This conflation is incorrect, unacceptable and a threat to the liberal-democratic order in Germany.
The Prime Minister is consulting senior ministers over the weekend on the way ahead after MPs voted on Friday to reject the Withdrawal Agreement by a majority of 58.
ITV Political Correspondent Paul Brand said the letter was not being widely circulated over fears it could reveal who first authored the piece.
The latest updates from Westminster and Brussels following Theresa May’s request to extend Article 50 for three months.
THERESA MAY has asked the EU for a three-month delay to Brexit in the hopes of finding a way to get her deal through Parliament. Read the full letter she sent to European Council President Donald Tusk below.
The Indigenous National Congress (CNI) and the Indigenous Government Council (CIG), both backed by the EZLN and multiple organizations across the country, made clear their opposition to these and other mining, touristic, agroindustrial and infrastructure projects that threaten indigenous communities and territories.
Corbyn ends the letter by suggesting further discussions with May on these proposals “with the aim of securing a sensible agreement that can win the support of parliament and bring the country together.”
FULL TEXT OF THE LETTER
The letter, published in the Times, is signed by 31 people, including the leader of the Christian Democratic Union – and likely successor to Angela Merkel – Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer and former Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann.
They cited post-work pints and pantomime as beloved British habits.
„Sir, Without your great nation, this continent would not be what it is today: a community defined by freedom and prosperity. After the horrors of the Second World War, Britain did not give up on us. It has welcomed Germany back as a sovereign nation and a European power. This we, as Germans, have not forgotten and we are grateful.“

It marks the end of a historic year in North-South relations, with the leaders hugging each other on the tarmac of Pyongyang International Airport in their most recent meeting in September — believed to be the first time Kim had greeted visitors at the airport since taking power in 2011.
Hojun, so we hear that the envoys met with the North Korean leader?
That’s right, Daniel. Their encounter was confirmed when the Blue House press corps received a text message from Cheong Wa Dae spokesperson Kim Eui-kyeom less than two hours ago, in which he said South Korea’s special delegation did, in fact, meet with Kim Jong-un to deliver President Moon Jae-in’s personal letter,… and that they exchanged opinions. The Blue House also confirmed that the special envoys will leave Pyongyang after they attend a dinner; but it’s still unclear who the host is.
„A letter to President Trump from Chairman Kim was received on August 1,“ White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said in a statement. „The ongoing correspondence between the two leaders is aimed at following up on their meeting in Singapore and advancing the commitments made in the US-DPRK joint statement.“
Sanders did not provide details on the content of the message
We are now in the ludicrous position of asserting that we must accept huge amounts of precisely such EU law, without changing an iota, because it is essential for our economic health — and when we no longer have any ability to influence these laws as they are made.
In that respect we are truly headed for the status of colony — and many will struggle to see the economic or political advantages of that particular arrangement.
It is also clear that by surrendering control over our rulebook for goods and agrifoods (and much else besides) we will make it much more difficult to do free trade deals. And then there is the further impediment of having to argue for an impractical and undeliverable customs arrangement unlike any other in existence.
What is even more disturbing is that this is our opening bid. This is already how we see the end state for the UK — before the other side has made its counter-offer.
“The Security Council must stand behind its resolutions and ensure they have meaning; otherwise, we risk undermining the credibility of the international system,” wrote Bolivia, China, Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, France, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, the Netherlands, Peru and Sweden in the letter seen by Reuters.
Yet hours later, Trump did attack Syria ― without consulting Congress.
