President Donald Trump’s campaign events will go virtual or will be delayed. Democratic candidate Joe Biden tested negative for the coronavirus and will go ahead with a campaign trip.
News that President Trump has tested positive for the coronavirus shook Washington and resonated around the world on Friday, provoking concern about the president’s health and raising questions about the continuity of government with the 2020 election only one month away.
Ned Price, a former CIA analyst who served as a senior director on the Obama administration’s National Security Council staff and is not involved in the Biden campaign, offered another explanation. In an interview with RCP, Price said the most recent assessment claiming that China wants Biden to win isn’t convincing because it relies on open-source public comments from Chinese officials, not more penetrating intelligence.
The RealClearPolitics average had Clinton +6.5 in Wisconsin on Election Day in 2016. In August of that year, she had been +11.5. Not a single poll featured on RCP during the entire campaign showed Donald Trump winning the state. Democratic Party nominee Joe Biden has a +3.5 average right now — which is to say, he is underperforming Clinton in the middle of a pandemic and ensuing economic collapse. This is the case in several battleground states
‚If I were running the campaign, there’s no way Joe wouldn’t have been in Kenosha,‘ said one. Another added that Biden’s campaign were ’not allowing‘ people in who hadn’t worked for Hillary
Die für eine westliche Demokratie bemerkenswerte Stellungnahme kam nach einer Anfrage aus dem US-Kongress zustande.
In a sign of the growing concern that President Trump might not leave office voluntarily or might attempt to use the military to hold onto power, two moderate Democratic lawmakers posed a series of written questions to the secretary of defense and the military’s top general about their obligations to the Constitution and the country.
Reps. Elissa Slotkin (D-Mich.) and Mikie Sherrill (D-N.J.) addressed their questions in writing to Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper, setting a deadline of Thursday evening.
The documentary film-maker Michael Moore has warned that Donald Trump appears to have such momentum in some battleground states that liberals risk a repeat of 2016 when so many wrote off Trump only to see him grab the White House.
“Sorry to have to provide the reality check again,” he said.
After a career built on incremental progress, Joe Biden is promising a Presidency of transformational change. The election will test whether his campaign can bring together a divided Party and a beleaguered country.
Though Trump has largely seized control of the Republican party and the loyalty of GOP officials, a number of prominent former GOP officials, and even some of his ex-staffers, have come out in favor of former Vice President Joe Biden.
Behind the scenes, some Biden allies have been reaching out through backchannels to friends in the Bush universe to see if an endorsement would ever happen — or if it’s just a pipe dream.
“We tried a little unofficially to see if there was a way to make it happen but we couldn’t get there,” said one Biden ally. “And I do think it would make a difference because we’ve learned every vote counts.”
A shadowy neoconservative website called Coda Story has launched a smear campaign against American journalists who challenge new cold war propaganda. But what this publication has not disclosed is that it is funded by the US government, backed by the European Union, linked to the NATO war alliance, and part of a larger network of regime-change outfits that are bankrolled by Western governments and corporate oligarchs.
To review the situation: earlier this month, Bloomberg News reported that Biden’s “campaign rolled out a $3.5 trillion economic program over the past month” — one that “promises to invest in clean energy and caregiving, buy more made-in-America goods, and start narrowing the country’s racial wealth gaps.” This, said the news service, was proof that Biden no longer adhered to an ideology of austerity and deficit hawkery — which would be good news.
But then on the eve of Biden’s convention speech, the Democratic nominee’s top aide suggested to Washington reporters that, in fact, that’s not true.
In May, Biden tapped Ocasio-Cortez to lead his campaign’s Climate Task Force, alongside climate crusader and former secretary of state John Kerry.
Now, Republican leaders are pleading to billionaires for help. Trump advisers are pining for new outside groups to form, and the White House is growing anxious to see what Adelson, who has pumped hundreds of millions of dollars into Republican super PACs over the past decade, will do.
Republican Party officials had to intervene in order to assess the damage to the key relationship. Sources close to Adelson said it’s not clear whether this will dissuade Adelson from donating more to Trump’s 2020 reelection campaign. Adelson was the largest single political donor during the 2018 mid-term elections in the U.S. – giving some $113 million dollars to conservative candidates.
Despite being outraised 250-1 by her establishment-backed opponent, progressive environmentalist Marquita Bradshaw scored a stunning upset victory in the Tennessee Democratic primary for an open U.S. Senate seat on Thursday after running on a platform that included Medicare for All and the Green New Deal.
There have been two big rallies in Democratic chances so far this year — the first in late February and early March as it became clear that the coronavirus was a serious problem, while the Democrats opted for Biden rather than one of the more progressive candidates, and the second in June as the protests over the killing of George Floyd rocked the nation, and the pandemic worsened once more.
Biden’s margin is no better than it was five weeks ago. Meanwhile, new cases are at last beginning to trend downward. This suggests the momentum is changing in the president’s favor:
U.S. lawmakers and the Trump administration are wrangling after enhanced unemployment aid for as many as 30 million jobless Americans expired. Democrats and Republicans are looking for common ground on the jobless benefits and other help for an economy sagging under the weight of pandemic-induced shutdowns.
Politico reported Pelosi told White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin that Birx was the „worst“ and that they were in „horrible hands“ with her.
Asked on ABC’s „This Week“ whether the account was true and if she has confidence in Birx, Pelosi said, „I think the President is spreading disinformation about the virus and she is his appointee, so I don’t have confidence there, no.“
“Deborah Birx is the worst. Wow, what horrible hands you’re in,” Pelosi said at the meeting, according to Politico.
A New York Times article in July on the Trump administration’s coronavirus response portrayed Birx as overly optimistic about the course of the pandemic. While voicing “tremendous respect” for Pelosi, Birx on Sunday criticized the newspaper’s reporting.
In combat and in Congress, Illinois Sen. Tammy Duckworth has seen a lot of firsts.
She was the first female soldier to lose both her legs in the Iraq War. She was the first Thai American woman elected to Congress. And she was the first U.S. senator to give birth while in office.
Now she may become the first Asian American woman nominated to be vice president for a major party in the United States.
The hashtag #ComradeTrump is trending on Twitter as of this writing because a well-funded Super PAC run by never-Trump Republicans put out an appallingly stupid viral video featuring footage of Trump splashed with red hammer-and-sickle symbols interspersed with images of Soviet leaders while an English-captioned narrator gushes about Mother Russia’s support for “Comrade Trump” in Russian. As of this writing the video has over two million views on Twitter alone.
This tactic of negatively associating Trump with communism and socialism, combined with the consistent pattern of attacking the president for being insufficiently warlike, would only work if it was directed at the members of a reactionary, jingoistic right-wing political ideology. And it does work, because that’s exactly the ideology of the Democratic Party.

This week on Intercepted: As Bloomberg launches a massive attack ad campaign against Sanders ahead of the South Carolina and Super Tuesday primaries, Sanders is facing a multipronged battle against the most powerful political and economic forces in the country.
Power is the ability to control what happens. Absolute power is controlling what people think about what happens.
Elected to Congress in 2018, Pressley is one of four members of “The Squad” — a group of freshmen congresswomen that includes Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York, Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. But unlike the other Squad members, who all endorsed Bernie Sanders, Pressley chose Warren, and is now a national co-chair for her campaign.
Filmmaker Michael Moore introduced Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez during a campaign town hall event in Iowa City, IA.
2020 is going to be a year of unprecedented organizing and activism and we need you with us to mobilize like never before.
Will you commit to signing up and volunteering for Ayanna’s re-election campaign right now?
Waterloo, Iowa — Less than a month from the Iowa caucuses, Joe Biden is continuing to overwhelmingly target rural communities throughout the state. In fact, the last event he held in Des Moines before his current bus tour was in November, when former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack and wife Christie Vilsack, endorsed him. He is currently on day three of a six-day bus tour.
That Trump has been conceding that socialism could be politically potent didn’t catch Sanders’ campaign by surprise.
“One of the reasons I feel so strongly about Bernie’s ability to beat Trump is because we know that the Democratic nominee will have to credibly explain that Trump betrayed the working class with false promises and that he does not put forward real solutions to help struggling people,” said Faiz Shakir, Sanders’ 2020 campaign manager. “Bernie can and will do that successfully.
Omar is one of three members of the “squad,” a group of influential Democratic congresswomen, who have endorsed Sanders. She told the crowd that her liberal politics are sometimes labeled “radical” by critics.
“The truth is the only radicalism we are motivated by is radical love,” said Omar. “That’s why we’re calling on everyone to be moved, radically, by love for their neighbors, for their country, for our democracy, and for humanity.”
Additionally, The Jewish Insider said that Republican John Mclaughlin, who is noted for his surveys on Republican candidates and served as Netanyahu’s pollster, will not be providing his services following two failed campaigns in which Netanyahu fell short of a majority. He declined comment to JI.

The fundraising milestone comes after Sanders received several major endorsements over the past week, including National Nurses United, United Teachers Los Angeles, and the California Young Democrats.
Sanders led all 2020 Democratic presidential candidates in fundraising in the third quarter of 2019, raking in $25.3 million from an average donation of just $18. Teacher has been the most common profession of Sanders donors, while Amazon, Walmart, and Starbucks have been the top employers of Sanders contributors.
Throughout the 2020 campaign, Mr. Sanders has sounded like an echo of his younger self, threatening reprisals against the elected officials in his way. He has pledged to campaign in even the reddest of states against lawmakers who oppose his ideas, including against conservative Democrats. It is a method of governing untested in the modern presidency.
New Hampshire Democrats also believe that Mr. Sanders did not have the sort of organization befitting the candidate who had won the state so overwhelmingly three years ago.
Mr. Jackson, who was previously the Sanders campaign’s northeast regional director, has worked with Mr. Sanders for years, including in his senate office in Burlington, Vt. He also helped start Our Revolution, the senator’s political advocacy group.
The organization is also taking a page out of the playbook of groups such as Black Lives Matter and the American Civil Liberties Union: It plans to “bird-dog” presidential candidates at public events to create viral moments and prod the Democratic Party leftward on the issue of Israel.
Overall that’s over £225,000 Hunt’s backers have donated to anti-Brexit campaigns, parties and politicians, before sticking their financial clout behind him. Tory members might well be wondering what he’s telling his hardline Remain donors that he isn’t telling them…
Senator Bernie Sanders is unveiling his first slate of key endorsements from Iowa progressive leaders today. Among them are some local elected officials and party leaders who were first mobilized to activism from Sanders’ previous presidential run, including LULAC State Director Nick Salazar, Dubuque City Councilwoman Kate Larson, and IDP Central Committee Member Emma Schmit.
The move, part of a concerted “anti-Johnson” push by opponents of a hard Brexit, followed comments by the former foreign secretary on Friday, soon after May’s resignation speech in Downing Street, that the UK would definitely leave the EU “deal or no deal” on 31 October if he became leader in July.
(31.12.2018) For someone who arrived in Israeli politics from America with a vision of the American White House – with its large numbers of aides, wings and staff – today runs the country with a small team, which numbers about the same as that of an average-sized Tel Aviv restaurant.
Oh dear. People’s Vote has always suffered from a slight problem with its name, which implies somehow that it wasn’t human beings who voted in the 2016 referendum – maybe they think it was cloven-hoofed beasts or potted plants who condemned us to Brexit. Its latest struggle with truth is not going to help it in its campaign to try to reverse the result of that referendum. Indeed, one of its arguments – that voters were somehow misguided by fibs by the Leave campaign – would seem to be somewhat undermined.
Messages leaked to Buzzfeed reveal the bizarre story of the „Tory First Battalion,“ a secret Twitter group formed to capitalise on the smear that the Labour party was anti-Semitic by coordinating and amplifying anti-Corbyn messages.
“Asked about the possibility that his country would take part in the Syrian Arab Army’s upcoming campaign against the terrorists in Idlib, especially in light of the presence of Uyghur fighters [there], [Qi] replied that China ‘is following the situation in Syria, in particular after the victory in southern [Syria], and its military is willing to participate in some way alongside the Syrian army that is fighting the terrorists in Idlib and in any other part of Syria,” the article from Al-Watan was translated as saying.
Our country’s destructive policy of pursuing interventionist regime change wars, no matter the deathly cost or consequence, has left our veterans and communities here at home neglected and facing extreme hardship. Now more than ever we must speak out for peace.
Reject the neocon, interventionist foreign policy establishment and join our campaign for peace.
