LOCKED IN: Restrictions can’t ease until NEXT YEAR due to aggressive mutant Covid strains, warns Sage
They came to their conclusions by modelling what could happen in the next few months under the vaccine rollout, presenting their findings to Sage on January 14.
Researchers at Warwick University wrote in the document, published today: “With the new aggressive covid strain, likely transmission efficacies prove insufficient to prevent further infection outbreaks across the population.
Coronavirus latest news: Restrictions on large gatherings likely to be in place ‚for next few years‘
Prof Spector also suggested that basic infection control measures – including physical distancing, face masks and handwashing – should remain in place as they „don’t cost really anything to do“.
„I think we need to get used to that and that will allow us to do the things we really want to do more easily and more readily,“ he said.

UK Covid cases fall by a THIRD in a week and deaths down almost 20% piling pressure on Boris to show way out of lockdown
Mark Harper — chairman of the Covid Recovery Group of lockdown sceptics, with 70 Tory MPs — said: “Back-of-the-envelope calculations I did based on two million doses a week mean you could get the top nine priority groups, first doses, and the top four groups, second doses, all done by the end of May.
“So it seems to me by the time you get to the end of May, no later than that, you should be in a position to get rid of restrictions completely.

Der Untertan [The Subject]
This poster advertises the novel ‘Der Untertan’ (‘The Subject’) by Heinrich Mann (1871-1950), the first part of his trilogy, ‘Das Kaiserreich’ (‘The Empire’). The novel was banned in Germany during the First World War, owing to its criticism of the militarism and conservatism prevalent in Imperial German society. It was finally published, to much acclaim, in 1918. Heinrich’s younger brother, the novelist Thomas Mann, initially wrote in support of the war but later agreed with Heinrich. Both brothers left for America in the 1930s following the rise of the Nazis.

The Great Barrington Declaration
Those who are not vulnerable should immediately be allowed to resume life as normal. Simple hygiene measures, such as hand washing and staying home when sick should be practiced by everyone to reduce the herd immunity threshold. Schools and universities should be open for in-person teaching. Extracurricular activities, such as sports, should be resumed. Young low-risk adults should work normally, rather than from home. Restaurants and other businesses should open. Arts, music, sport and other cultural activities should resume. People who are more at risk may participate if they wish, while society as a whole enjoys the protection conferred upon the vulnerable by those who have built up herd immunity.
On October 4, 2020, this declaration was authored and signed in Great Barrington, United States, by:
Dr. Martin Kulldorff, professor of medicine at Harvard University, a biostatistician, and epidemiologist with expertise in detecting and monitoring infectious disease outbreaks and vaccine safety evaluations.
Dr. Sunetra Gupta, professor at Oxford University, an epidemiologist with expertise in immunology, vaccine development, and mathematical modeling of infectious diseases.

Art, Truth & Politics
(2005)
When we look into a mirror we think the image that confronts us is accurate. But move a millimetre and the image changes. We are actually looking at a never-ending range of reflections. But sometimes a writer has to smash the mirror – for it is on the other side of that mirror that the truth stares at us.
I believe that despite the enormous odds which exist, unflinching, unswerving, fierce intellectual determination, as citizens, to define the real truth of our lives and our societies is a crucial obligation which devolves upon us all. It is in fact mandatory.
If such a determination is not embodied in our political vision we have no hope of restoring what is so nearly lost to us – the dignity of man.

Speaking to The Telegraph’s Planet Normal podcast – which you can listen to on the audio player above – Shriver told podcast host and Telegraph columnist Allison Pearson she was „dismayed“ with the way Britons have stayed at home without questioning government strategy.
„The British people have never more profoundly disappointed me. It seems so un-British to say, alright then I’ll just roll over and I’ll stay home. I think part of it was being able to feed into the Blitz narrative,“ she said. „The bizarre attachment to being confined to your homes and not making a living and relying on the government…I’m just dismayed.“

American Federation of Musicians Local 47 Endorses Bernie Sanders for President
The American Federation of Musicians Local 47 is proud to endorse Bernie Sanders for President of the United States in the 2020 Primary Election.
Members of the Los Angeles musicians union’s political action committee voted unanimously to recommend that the AFM Local 47 executive board – the elected leadership body of the 7,000-member union – endorse Sen. Sanders as the candidate who best represents the interests of musicians. On Tuesday, the board in turn voted unanimously to endorse Sanders in an unprecedented move for a union historically removed from taking official stances in presidential elections.

George Carlin: We Like War
(1992)
I’d like to talk a little bit about the war in the Persian Gulf… biiiiiig doings in the Persian Gulf. You know my favourite part of that war? It’s the first war we ever had that was on every channel plus cable… and the war got good ratings too, didn’t it? Got good ratings! Well, we like war!!! We like war! We’re a war-like people! We like war because we’re good at it! You know why we’re good at it? Cause we get a lot of practice. This country’s only 200 years old and already, we’ve had 10 major wars. We average a major war every 20 years in this country so we’re good at it! And it’s a good thing we are; we’re not very good at anything else anymore! Huh? Can’t build a decent car, can’t make a TV set or a VCR worth a fuck, got no steel industry left, can’t educate our young people, can’t get health care to our old people, but we can bomb the shit out of your country all right! Huh? Especially if your country is full of brown people; oh we like that don’t we? That’s our hobby! That’s our new job in the world: bombing brown people. Iraq, Panama, Grenada, Libya, you got some brown people in your country, tell them to watch the fuck out or we’ll goddamn bomb them! Well when’s the last white people you can remember that we bombed? Can you remember the last white— can you remember ANY white people we’ve ever bombed? The Germans, those are the only ones and that’s only because they were trying to cut in on our action. They wanted to dominate the world! BULLSHIT! THAT’S OUR FUCKING JOB!!!

How ‘right wing’ became the smear for those we disagree with
Inexplicably, even free speech has become a right-wing issue. When I refused to sign a ‘behavioural agreement’ form (a title invented by students who mistook George Orwell’s 1984 for an instruction manual) in order to perform comedy at the School of Oriental and African Studies just before Christmas, I was immediately called ‘alt-Right’ on national radio. When I tried to explain that I’m a Remainer with liberal and centrist views who has only voted Lib Dem or Labour, I was told ‘that’s what the alt-Right always say’.
I wonder how my Jewish great-grandfather, who died fighting Nazis in WWII, would feel about my transformation into a far-right extremist.

Because I care about Israel, I must stand up against violence, corruption, inequality and abuse of power.“
Confessions of a pro-Brexit millennial
It’s 2014, and I’m sitting in a university classroom in England. Right now, I’m a dance educator and studying for a more theoretical MA in the subject at the same time. This class is about contextualising performance practices within the political sphere. But most art isn’t political, I think. Our lecturer goes on to explain. Politics, I hear, is really a term about power relations. Almost every action performed by a human when there are other humans present is political, in so much as it is an assertion of status, whether higher or lower, in the greater game of power relations. We act out of a desire to attain something, perhaps to create order, perhaps to make things work for ourselves, but it’s impossible, I hear, to create art that is not an assertion of status in the context of human relations in some capacity. From now on, I look at government-funded art in a different way. I look at all art in a different way.

Artists scared they’ll lose jobs if they admit to backing Brexit
(14.2.2018) Daltrey added: “We are getting out, and when the dust settles I think that it’ll be seen that it’s the right thing for this country to have done, that’s for sure. It’s got nothing to do with any of the immigration issues or any of that for me. It was to do with much more. The majority of this country felt that their voices weren’t being heard. It would have been nice to do a deal with Europe but they didn’t want to do a deal, and they sent Cameron back with a bag.”

Many of those who voted to leave the European Union feel unable to vocalise their support publicly and where they have done so have faced hostility from employers, work colleagues and peers. It is important therefore that we establish a platform for progressive artists who are prepared to raise their heads above the parapet. We also welcome those who wish to lend their support but for personal reasons are unable to do so publicly. We aim to create an environment of civil debate, ideas and discussion to try and heal a divide that has been driven solely by a difference in views as to where we see Britain in the future.
There’s a lot at stake at the moment, including our collective faith in our democracy itself, on which we all depend. So If u really care about this + also want to see Britain truely regain it’s independence, then please write to your MP this weekend + let them know how you feel!
